SHOWDOWN: St Ives Apricot Scrub Brightening VS Clinique 7 Day Scrub Cream
The exfoliating grains in the St Ives facial scrub is larger and rougher than compared to those in Clinique's, hence the former has a harsher formulation than the latter. The St Ives scrub also harbours salicylic acid, a compound widely acknowledged to be capable of curbing development of pimples as well as suppressing acnes' formation and preventing breakouts. However, some like myself do not require such a strong treatment. My face felt taut and squeaky-clean after exfoliating, therefore evidently depicting that the scrub was too drying. My dry-combination skin is definitely more suited for Clinique 7 Day Scrub Cream which was gentler on the skin and contained uber micro beads that were not as harsh. Anyone has any good facial scrubs to recommend? I find exfoliation a relatively important weekly activity because it deep cleanses pores.

I just used St. Ives brightening facial scrub which i bought at SM. after i used it, my skin is irritated, it has a burning effect and it's quite swollen. Is this product authentic? i've searched on st. ives website and i didn't found any St. Ives Brightening facial scrub. Can someone please tell me why i had this skin irritation? Thank you!- celina
ReplyDeleteHey Celina! PLEASE STOP USING THIS SCRUB! It is clearly too harsh for your skin. If the swelling and irritation do not subside after a few days, please visit a skin doctor or a dermatologist asap. Trust me, an early cure is the best. For the time being, stay away from ALL skincare products to let your skin heal naturally. Try to avoid make-up as well or go light. Do not exfoliate anymore and use a gentle cleanser.
