loose powder / pressed powder / compact powder

In my opinion, compact powder works best for those seeking to find the perfect powder foundation as their make-up base. Compact powder are best in providing heavy coverages and performing well in the oil-control sector. They are also typically a common favourite amongst the younger generation because of its easy and convenient application style. However, one drawback that I find is that compact powder seemingly "mask" the face. I think ZA produces the best drugstore-brand compact powder in the market and it has regularly been voted positively in magazines. Pressed powder are generally useful for oily skin types who have a habit of applying powder over liquid foundation bases in order to provide a matte finish as well as build up on coverage to hide obvious blemishes and conspicuous scars. In my opinion, pressed powder can feel very heavy on the skin and are too drying for normal to dry skin types. I own Maybelline Clear Smooth pressed powder and do not like it much. Hence, my recommendation for these aforementioned skin types are to go for loose powder. I personally like loose powder the most out of the three powder choices because the post-application feeling is lighter and emits a more sheer vibe. It is definitely better to use loose powder, or even completely do away with powder, when attempting a dewy finish. I currently own two tubs of loose powder from Muji, a natural and a shimmery one. I prefer the latter but it can be a tad OTT so I use the former instead whenever required and save the beautiful glittery powder for special occasions.
