Yesterday, I had the good fortune of attending a complimentary beauty workshop conducted by Chanel. I received an invitation some time back and accepted it. It was overall a nice experience and I will surely look forward to more of such brilliant opportunities. I picked up some useful tips from the workshop but despite that being said, I am quite a stubborn learner and my mind of its own objected to some tips as well.
(+) I love the Chanel Inimitable Mascara! My eyelashes are relatively long and thick but this mascara brought my lashes to greater heights. It is as fabulous as my RMK Extra Deep W mascara!
(+) I like the Chanel Precision Demaquillant Yeux Intense Gentle Biphase Eye Make-Up Remover because it is quick and effective in removing eye and lip make-up and it does not sting or leave any oily residue behind.
(+) I used a lip brush, for the first time in my life, to apply my lipstick and I actually am pretty amazed by the result of it. The lipstick goes on in a fine layer that is not too chunky nor sheer because the colour can be built up smoothly. I own a lip brush so I may, if time permits, try this application method once more. The lipstick is also very hydrating, unlike the other lipsticks I own from drugstore brands.
(+) The pressed powder I was aided in applying really made my face appear more luminous and translucent. The powder was very fine and did not result in caking. I learnt that, due to Singapore's hot and humid weather, powder is extremely crucial in acting as an extra barrier to assist in preventing liquid foundation from melting. I do not find myself battling heat versus make-up problems often, thus I do not deem powder an important step in my make-up routine. I usually entirely do away with that additional step. Perhaps, after my positive experience yesterday, I shall now apply loose powder over my fluid foundation or bb creams everyday.
(-) I did not enjoy Chanel's skincare products at all. Apart from my products by Clinique 3-step system derived in America, I generally harbour more faith in Asian skincare. I also did not agree to the pinching method we were taught which claims to stimulate reception of skincare products, I hold a greater belief in the Japanese way of patting the face to enhance absorption. The pinching style comes across as a tad too harsh for the skin. In addition, the massage also did not adhere too well for dry skin types like my Mother and myself. I find that utilising a massage cream or massage oil prior to the massage will work better.
(-) I am not a huge fan of eyeshadows so I was quite adverse to the idea of applying that. From a previous experience at a RMK make-up tutorial I participated in, I learnt that I did not like eyeshadow colours that were too bright for me. Hence, this time round, I went ahead with a light pink choice. It truly made my eyes pop but albeit so, I will be glad to do without this additional step because, to me, there was no spectacular result differing it from typical eyeshadows.
(-) The Chanel assistant at the workshop was pretty adamant about me utilising a brow pencil to touch up my eyebrows. I have thick eyebrows which I am really proud of and I could not comprehend how they require any filling in at all. The length of my eyebrows also suited the frame of my face perfectly and I was slightly taken aback when the lady extended my brows at the ends. Maybe she just wanted me to have a go at their products but I doubt I will buy eyebrow pencils anytime soon, I like my brow gel a whole lot better.
