Perfect Imperfections

This is a YouTube tag that I found pretty interesting and hence shall go ahead and chalk up a blog entry about it. Basically, one is to list down 3 physical traits that they like and dislike about themselves and how we work around these attributes.

(-) undereyes
My undereyes have been, for perpetually as long as I can possibly remember, plagued by fine lines, puffiness and dark circles. Most Indonesians have really dark undereyes, I guess I cannot avoid that fate. I have fine lines under my eyes due to two main causations - lack of hydration and tugging. For I am a contact lenses wearer, I used to pull my undereyes really roughly to insert my lenses when I was younger and still clueless. Now that I am thankfully wiser, I have learnt to pop my lenses in without pulling my lids I am grateful that my eyes are large enough to negate the harsh tugging. Also, although I do consume quite a sufficient amount of H20 all the time, I neglected to externally hydrate my eye area. I only began utilising an eye cream when I was 19 or 20, which I personally deem as too young an age to start skincare investments (21 will be the perfect age to engage in skin protection in order to prevent young skin from being overly-reliant on products). My fine lines have become such an in-built feature of my eyes for a very long time that it will be weird without them around. Plus, my eyes have always been very puffy. The Taiwanese claim that girls with puffy undereyes are deemed very pretty (e.g. Barbie Hsu) but I honestly cannot say I agree 100% with that statement. I have no idea how the puffiness is generated but  I guess I can only count my lucky stars that at least my eyes are not sunken inwards.

(-) 2 lines on my neck
Truth to be told, I have never noticed neck lines before, not even after I started dabbling in neck care. I only hit revelation regarding such an occurrence after watching some videos of Fuzkittie's that discussed this particular issue. I am sure EVERYONE has these 2 lines on their necks as well with all the head-bending we engage in perpetually all the time without fail. This is because the skin at the neck is super thin and thus rendering it extremely vulnerable to development of lines. As this is simply an inevitable trait for all, unless of course you have a really thick neck, I cannot lodge too much complaints.

(-) square jawline
This last negative physical trait took me such a long time to conjure because I am honestly very contented with my looks. A lot of people in the olden days are highly wary of females with strong jawlines and I do have squarish jaws. This is because of the traditional saying that such females are usually dominating and authoritative, some characteristics that males in the past avoid because they probably preferred the "doormat" types. I have got to admit that I do harbour those aforementioned characteristics. The shape of my jaws, in my opinion, add definition to my face and enhance my chin, making it end off looking sharper. Nonetheless, I shall still attribute this as a negativity for the sake of things.

(+) face shape
I truly like my face shape. Oval or heart shaped faces will make me come across as someone with a really small face and my thick mane may overwhelm my small face if I did not have a square-shaped face. My strong jawlines end off with a sharper chin and the sharpness is emphasised especially when I smile. I did not remember always having a sharp chin, I believe it used to be slightly rounder. A couple of months back, I chanced upon an exercise which enhances chins' sharpness and I used to religiously practice it. I truly saw results from that exercise and because I am contented with my chin now, I have halted practising that exercise.

(+) eyebrows
I am deeply grateful for thick eyebrows. I have an option of either tweezing or threading my brows to a thinner shape (I prefer the chinese method of tweezing more because I think this accentuates the brow shape nicely) or letting them grow out to their original thickness, depending on my varying mood or in-style trends. I used to prefer thinner brows when I was younger but I currently love thick brows. I am truly thankful that I can do without brow powder or brow pencils to draw or fill in my brows because they are beautiful as they naturally are. I do invest in a brow gel by Benefit to tame them in place when I have a big event to attend to where I want to look immaculate. Otherwise, I can just comb my brows and am good to go. They usually stay in place.

(+) hair
This is a tough choice because I am pleased with eyes, nose and lips as well but I decided to, out of fariness, stray away from facial features and pick my hair. I have always had really thick hair since I was a little girl. I used to have natural waves when I was younger possible because my Mother had them too. Now, my hair just remains in whichever style I want. My hair stays straight or curly for an unbelievably long time after I undergo rebonding and perming respectively. My hair is now pretty straight although I rebonded it such a long time back. I doubt I will perm my hair anytime soon because I like it straight so much better and curls can get tiresome easily. I also like that my hair texture is not too fine nor is my hair too thin, I prefer a little volume and hair that is too silky cannot achieve the voluminous effect conveniently. My hair is quite smooth to the touch, there are also barely any tangles. Of course strands do fall out when I am washing my hair but that is inevitable.

That is all! Overall, I am satisfied with my outlook and I strongly think everyone should be too. Love yourself :)
