Before I delve into this entry, I just want to clarify that I DO NOT think it is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY for everyone who works out to have energy bars. Whole, unprocessed foods can give you energy too and are way healthier for you because energy bars DO contain not-so-good ingredients. For instance, opt for a banana over an energy bar.
I used to have a protein bar after every gym session just to give my body a protein boost. I no longer have them now because I am trying to eat "cleaner" and I personally disqualify energy bars from a "clean" diet.
However, with that said, I thought it would still be interesting to pen this post for those keen to explore the energy bar options available in the market.
Of all the energy bars out there, Quest bars must be the best in my opinion. Here are some of the flavours I have tried.
My favourite Quest bar flavour is Strawberry Cheesecake, followed by Banana Nut Muffin and Coconut Cashew, which honestly surprised me because I thought I'd be all over the peanut butter and cookie dough options.
I did not like the Cliff bar I tried, it could be because I did not enjoy the Coconut Chocolate Chip flavour, but I am not gonna try any more bars from Cliff. Pro Bar tastes unlike any usual energy bar - the texture is very different. I am on the fence with Muscle Milk and I thought Slim Secrets was not bad at all. Of all the four brands, I would say ladies go for Slim Secrets and gentlemen go for Muscle Milk.
Supreme protein bars are NOT an option I would go for. The flavours I bought sound so promising and awesome but I did not fancy the taste much.
Think Thin is pretty good! I would rank it on par with Slim Secrets.
Some other energy bar brands that I have heard so much good reviews on are Kind Bars and Luna Bars, but I never had the chance to sample any from them.
